DESCRIPTION:Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships Symposium 2025 Inclusive Futures: Empowering young people in their sexual wellbeing \nSupporting educators to deliver comprehensive relationships and sexuality education for all \nIn person or ONLINE tickets available. \nJoin us for this exciting event where we showcase recent developments in school-based relationships and sexuality education (RSE)! \nDelegates will have the opportunity to hear from a broad range of engaging speakers\, and be provided with examples of practical activities that you can take straight back to the classroom. This symposium is suitable for anyone who may deliver RSE in schools\, or is interested in RSE. This includes teachers\, school health nurses\, support staff\, administrators and external agencies. Pre-service teachers are also welcome. \nKeynote presentations \nWe are incredibly excited to announce our two fantastic keynotes for this event! \nProfessor Melissa Kang \nMelissa Kang is a medical doctor who trained in General Practice\, and then worked exclusively with adolescents and young adults in hospital and community settings for 30 years. Melissa was the medical writer behind the ‘Dolly Doctor’ Q&A column in Dolly magazine\, between 1993 and 2016 and has recently co-authored award-winning books for adolescents including Welcome to Your Period\, Welcome to Consent\, Welcome to Your Boobs and Welcome to Sex. She has been an academic for 25 years\, with her research focusing on access to health care\, health system navigation\, adolescent sexuality and sexual health. She is currently the Vice President Oceania of the International Association for Adolescent Health and a member of the IAAH Education Committee. She was the president of the Australian Association for Adolescent Health from 2015 – 2020. \nDaniel Principe \nDaniel is a passionate youth advocate and educator. He champions boys across Australia to challenge culture and aspire to live courageous\, respectful and empathetic lives. Daniel is a board member of the DART Institute\, an ambassador for the Women’s Resilience Centre and an ambassador for the national campaign Consent Can’t Wait. He was also a recent nominee for the 2025 NSW Australian of the Year. By partnering with schools and communities\, Daniel encourages young people to recognise and resist distorted attitudes towards bodies\, relationships and sex. He invites his audiences to instead inspire to healthy relationships built on mutual respect and empathy. Daniel is a regular guest on TV\, radio and podcasts to discuss healthy masculinity\, consent\, respectful relationships and the cultural challenges young people are facing. \nBrought to you by the RSE Project – The Relationships and Sexuality Education Project

DESCRIPTION:Talk Ask Listen Connect – Accidental Counsellor Training  \n\n\n\nThis workshop empowers participants to become effective Accidental Counsellors\, equipping them with essential skills to support individuals in crisis. Attendees will learn communication techniques and deepen their understanding of mental health and suicide prevention. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the course\, participants will be able to guide those in distress toward safety and support while also prioritising their own mental wellbeing.  \n\n\n\nObjectives   \n\n\n\n\nIncrease mental health literacy   \n\n\n\nIncreased self-awareness  \n\n\n\nDevelop skills to initiate caring conversations  \n\n\n\nIncreased awareness of signs of stress or psychological distress  \n\n\n\nIncreased capacity to support others and connect them with safety \n\n\n\nIncreased understanding of supporting one’s own mental health and wellbeing while supporting others.  \n\n\n\n\nPlease note \n\n\n\nThis workshop focuses on supporting those in mental health crisis\, which includes thoughts of suicide\, self-harm\, and suicide bereavement.
