Learn more about Triple P on the Education in WA website. To register for face-to-face workshops\, visit the Triple P in WA website and search for upcoming sessions by location. Parents can also access a range of self-paced Triple P Online programs for free.  \n\n\n\nWhat is a Child and Parent Centre?\n\n\n\nChild and Parent Centres support families across WA through a range of early learning programs\, maternal and health services\, and child support activities. DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday 10th September & Thursday 11th September 2025 \n\n\n\nTime: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm both days. \n\n\n\nOnline live stream with required pre-reading. \n\n\n\nEvent description \n\n\n\nThis online workshop is for professionals working with children and young people aged 5-14 years old. The ASK Workshop is completed across two days plus reading completed prior to the live workshop. \n\n\n\nThe ASK Workshop online challenges commonly held notions about children’s capacity to consider suicide. \n\n\n\nIn 2022\, suicide was the second leading cause of child death in Australian children aged 5 -17 years. \n\n\n\nParticipants learn: \n\n\n\n\nHow to talk about death with children\n\n\n\nHow to talk about suicide with children\n\n\n\nDevelopmentally appropriate strategies and tools to identify young children at risk of suicide\n\n\n\nHow to quickly gather and organise details needed to assess risk\n\n\n\nHow to explore and consider protective factors to inform safety planning\n\n\n\nTo consider common challenges when working with parents and possible solutions\n\n\n\n\nImportant Course Information: \n\n\n\n\nPre-Workshop reading is required to be completed prior to the workshop to be permitted access to the live stream\n\n\n\nYour live stream link and pre-reading will be emailed to you in the days prior to the training\n\n\n\nThe live stream will go from 8:30am to approximately 1:30pm both days \n\n\n\n\nCourse Structure \n\n\n\nParticipants learn using case studies\, guided simulations\, discussion and practice using an assessment tool. \n\n\n\nFollowing the course \n\n\n\nParticipants will have an increased understanding and alertness to the fact that children can be at risk of suicide. They will know what risk factors to look out for and feel confident approaching the subject of death and suicide with a child.
