DESCRIPTION:ASIST is a two-day\, evidence-based workshop that equips participants with practical skills to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide\, respond with confidence\, and provide safe\, effective support. This specialised workshop is designed specifically for administrative\, reception\, coordination and management staff working across: \n\n\n\n\nGeneral Practices\n\n\n\nAboriginal Health Services\n\n\n\nPublic Primary Health Clinics\n\n\n\nEmergency Departments\n\n\n\nUrgent Care Clinics\n\n\n\nCommunity & Public Mental Health Services\n\n\n\n\nWith more than 20 years of experience supporting Australian communities\, Wesley LifeForce delivers evidence-based training developed in consultation with GPs\, practice nurses and practice managers. DESCRIPTION:Talk Ask Listen Connect – Accidental Counsellor Training Accredited by QIP – Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA 1243) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop empowers participants to become effective Accidental Counsellors\, equipping them with essential skills to support individuals in crisis. Attendees will learn communication techniques and deepen their understanding of mental health and suicide prevention. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the course\, participants will be able to guide those in distress toward safety and support while also prioritising their own mental wellbeing.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives   \n\n\n\n\nIncrease mental health literacy   \n\n\n\nIncreased self-awareness  \n\n\n\nDevelop skills to initiate caring conversations  \n\n\n\nIncreased awareness of signs of stress or psychological distress  \n\n\n\nIncreased capacity to support others and connect them with safety \n\n\n\nIncreased understanding of supporting one’s own mental health and wellbeing while supporting others.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note \n\n\n\nThis workshop focuses on supporting those in mental health crisis\, which includes thoughts of suicide\, self-harm\, and suicide bereavement. DESCRIPTION:Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention is a two-day workshop designed for professionals and para-professionals in the human services whose roles bring them into regular contact with people at risk of suicide.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop aims to help participants: Gain an understanding of the problem of suicide  Identify suicide risk Provide a framework for risk assessment and intervention Develop appropriate intervention skills Understand the limits to confidentiality and importance of consultation Gain an understanding of self-harming behaviour Gain an understanding of the link between mental disorders and suicidal behaviours Understand the importance of postvention  \n\n\n\nWe acknowledge that attending a workshop that discusses suicide may bring up difficult and distressing emotions for people\, especially for those who have been personally or professionally impacted by suicide. Therefore\, we ask that you consider whether this is an appropriate time for you to attend a session before registering. DESCRIPTION:Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships Symposium 2025 Inclusive Futures: Empowering young people in their sexual wellbeing \nSupporting educators to deliver comprehensive relationships and sexuality education for all \nIn person or ONLINE tickets available. \nJoin us for this exciting event where we showcase recent developments in school-based relationships and sexuality education (RSE)! \nDelegates will have the opportunity to hear from a broad range of engaging speakers\, and be provided with examples of practical activities that you can take straight back to the classroom. This symposium is suitable for anyone who may deliver RSE in schools\, or is interested in RSE. This includes teachers\, school health nurses\, support staff\, administrators and external agencies. Pre-service teachers are also welcome. \nKeynote presentations \nWe are incredibly excited to announce our two fantastic keynotes for this event! \nProfessor Melissa Kang \nMelissa Kang is a medical doctor who trained in General Practice\, and then worked exclusively with adolescents and young adults in hospital and community settings for 30 years. Melissa was the medical writer behind the ‘Dolly Doctor’ Q&A column in Dolly magazine\, between 1993 and 2016 and has recently co-authored award-winning books for adolescents including Welcome to Your Period\, Welcome to Consent\, Welcome to Your Boobs and Welcome to Sex. She has been an academic for 25 years\, with her research focusing on access to health care\, health system navigation\, adolescent sexuality and sexual health. She is currently the Vice President Oceania of the International Association for Adolescent Health and a member of the IAAH Education Committee. She was the president of the Australian Association for Adolescent Health from 2015 – 2020. \nDaniel Principe \nDaniel is a passionate youth advocate and educator. He champions boys across Australia to challenge culture and aspire to live courageous\, respectful and empathetic lives. Daniel is a board member of the DART Institute\, an ambassador for the Women’s Resilience Centre and an ambassador for the national campaign Consent Can’t Wait. He was also a recent nominee for the 2025 NSW Australian of the Year. By partnering with schools and communities\, Daniel encourages young people to recognise and resist distorted attitudes towards bodies\, relationships and sex. He invites his audiences to instead inspire to healthy relationships built on mutual respect and empathy. DESCRIPTION:ASIST – The Most Widely Used Suicide Intervention Model in the World \n\n\n\nUnlock the power to save lives with ASIST – the world’s leading suicide intervention model! If you’re in an MHFA role\, peer support\, casework\, crisis work\, or just want to help someone in need\, this is the workshop for you. Join the over 120\,000 participants who attend ASIST each year and learn how to intervene and help a person at risk of suicide stay safe. \n\n\n\nWhat You Will Learn: \n\n\n\nIn this two-day face-to-face interactive workshop\, you will learn how to: \n\n\n\n\nReflect on how your attitudes and beliefs about suicide affect your intervention role\n\n\n\nClearly and directly discuss suicide\n\n\n\nBuild a collaborative approach to intervention focused on safe outcomes\n\n\n\nReview immediate suicide risk and develop appropriate safe plans\n\n\n\nSupport the person to move towards life and collaboratively formulate a safety plan\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect: \n\n\n\n\nThe program aims to raise suicide awareness\n\n\n\nIt challenges participants to examine their own attitudes and beliefs about suicide\n\n\n\nIt teaches how to provide suicide first aid for persons with thoughts of suicide\n\n\n\nThe course content and participant requirements may be confronting\n\n\n\nVideos and activities are used to invite reflection on the role of caregivers and persons with thoughts of suicide\n\n\n\nOur facilitators will endeavour to create and maintain a safe environment for all\n\n\n\nThere will be safety measures in place to manage individual psychological safety\n\n\n\nThere will be a minimum of one facilitator present during the duration of the program\n\n\n\nSkills practice and development\n\n\n\nA balance of challenge and safety\n\n\n\nPowerful audiovisual learning aids\n\n\n\n\nImportant Organisational Requirements and Recommendations: \n\n\n\nIt’s important to note that organisations are now recognising the importance of suicide intervention training as part of their duty of care towards their employees and clients. In addition\, many psychosocial regulation requirements mandate that key personnel must have the skills to intervene and assist people at risk of suicide. ASIST is the most widely recognised and evidence-based suicide intervention training model that is trusted by organisations globally to equip their employees with the knowledge and skills to intervene and save lives. \n\n\n\nBy attending ASIST\, you’ll not only be fulfilling your duty of care obligations but also gain invaluable skills that will enable you to make a positive difference in someone’s life. Much of Craig’s career was invested in `high risk’ law enforcement including drug investigation\, the investigation of outlaw motorcycle gangs and homicides. \n\n\n\nThe environment within which Craig led professional people for much of his career was one that exposed employees to high levels of stress\, high\, workloads\, occupational burnout\, depression\, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. \n\n\n\nAs a leader he developed a clear and practical understanding of workplace mental health and its relevance to workplace health and safety\, occupational health and safety legislation\, productivity\, personal wellbeing and resilience. \n\n\n\nCraig’s retirement from the Police Force was as a result of his own personal battle with workplace Psychological Injury. \n\n\n\nFrom that `lived experience’ he has developed a rare personal insight into the causes\, symptoms\, treatment\, recovery strategies and the impact of mental illness in the workplace. \n\n\n\nIn 2015 Craig joined the Black Dog Institute as a mental health educational presenter. Since then he has travelled extensively\, sharing his experience and delivering vital education on Mental Health\, Wellbeing and Resilience. \n\n\n\nMore than 30\,000 people have benefited from Craig’s positive presentations. \n\n\n\nIn 2016 Craig was selected as an inaugural `Mentor’ for the NSW Police Legacy program `Backup for Life’. Craig has used his unique experience to help develop this program which is providing support to injured Police Officers and their families. \n\n\n\nHe was selected as a Mentor due to his positive message and demonstrated ability to overcome adversity. Craig is considered a `Role Model’ for injured Police transitioning into the next phase of their lives. \n\n\n\nCraig is a fully accredited Instructor for the delivery of Mental Health First Aid training.
